Explorer County Hike Champions – 2011

Congratulations to the team from 7th Bangor, Ashleigh, Bethan, Ben, Conor P and Andrew (a helper with 7th cubs). They were the youngest of 11 teams of explorers to take part in the first County Hike competition to be held in County Down. The competion was held over 10 km in the Mournes and was a test of compass and map skills, stamina and scouting skills. The 7th Bangor team was joint first with the Banbridge team but beat them on the timings for the hike. The team won a Vango Banshee 3-man tent for the group and the County Hike shield, which will be engraved and presented on Parents’ Night on 13 May. Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to organise the event, it was a great success and enjoyed by the participants.
