Explorers

Explorer Scouts are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old. We make up the fifth Section of the Scouting family. We had our registration night on Friday 10 September 2010 and are delighted to welcome back Explorers from last year and the new Explorers moving up from our Scout section.

Where? Halls at West Church (see our programme)
When? Each Friday
Time? 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm

There will be times when you will be busy doing other things such as exams, and being an Explorer Scout will have to fit around these.

Uniform
Navy activity trousers
Explorer shirt (available from Mr Roberts, the Scout Shop or Scout shops online)
Black shoes (for parade)
Badge positions

As an Explorer Scout, you will be able to decide, along with the rest of the Unit, what you want to do – whether it is zip-lining, abseiling, wall climbing, hiking or loads of camping!

You will be able to gain badges such as the Chief Scout’s Diamond and Platinum Awards. The highest award you can earn is the Queen’s Scout Award. This is recognised by many employers as the sign of someone that is enthusiastic, dedicated and reliable.
